Motivational Monday: Be BOLD

Be-Bold-MM

“Be BOLD or italic, never regular.”- Cultivate Communications

When it comes to getting your customer’s attention, you need to be creative and brave. It’s more than just picking a different font (although it never hurts to ensure you stand out visually). The idea is to get noticed—to do something bold and daring that ensures your business, your products, and your services stay fresh in the hearts and minds of your customers.

It’s even okay to be a little weird (puppymonkeybaby, anyone?), but it’s best if you aim for what truly makes your brand stand out. Know your audience and tailor your communication to really speak to them.

Don’t forget: You are your brand. What do you have a reputation for? What makes you unique among all the other brands out there? What do you do differently than others in your industry? There’s one thing you do better than everyone else. Find it and convey it in every message.

Just like your customers, no two brands are identical. Even if you provide the same services as six competitors in town, at the exact same price, find what makes you special and distinctive and shout it from the rooftops! Be bold with your message—make yourself stand out, and be remembered for what you do best!

Motivational Monday: Presidential Thinking

presidential-thinking

“We should not look back unless it is to derive useful lessons from past errors.” – George Washington

Happy Presidents’ Day. No matter how you feel about the current electoral prospects, we can all agree our country’s forefathers had great wisdom, and a thing or two to teach us about perseverance, holding steadfast to one’s beliefs, and the importance of a strong and unified vision.

Looking back on the past and reflecting on history is important — we can learn so much. It’s not about ruminating on past mistakes or regrets, but extracting a lesson and moving forward with renewed motivation and spirit.

When you look back at your company’s past, what lessons can you learn? Are there places where a stronger strategy or a better plan could have resulted in a faster outcome? Where there times when you overlooked customer appreciation or you weren’t as responsive as you should have been? Take these lessons and apply them to your plan going forward.

On this Presidents’ Day, rather than repeating history, let’s learn from it and move forward with hope and focus. The path to your company’s growth and greatness lies ahead.

Apply a little historical knowledge, strategic leadership and “presidential thinking” to your marketing strategy to reach more customers this year. Motivational Monday: Super Bowl Marketing Excellence

super bowl marketing excellence

Excellence is achieved by mastery of the fundamentals.” -Vince Lombardi

Super Bowl 50 is over. Whether you were rooting for the Panthers or the Broncos, chances are you tuned in for more than just the game. It’s no secret the Super Bowl is the pinnacle event in advertising and entertainment. (What did you think of Beyoncé at halftime?)

There’s more to the big game than amazing sports prowess, pizza, beer, and car commercials. At the heart and history of football, there are lessons and amazing examples of follow-through, leadership and personal dedication.

Football is a game of inspirational stories and triumphs, from Rudy and Friday Night Lights “underdog wins” fiction to real-life examples of excellence, like Peyton Manning, Michael Oher, and of course Lombardi. Coach Vince Lombardi is well known for his famous words of wisdom he bestowed on the Green Bay Packers during his tenure, building on their strengths and honing their skills, leading them to victories in Super Bowls I & II.

As Lombardi taught his players, you must first master fundamentals to achieve excellence. This lesson can be applied to marketing, business, and even Beyoncé. (Hey, how much time do you think she spent first mastering those fundamental dance moves before she could achieve the level of excellence required to perform at Super Bowl halftime?) Achieve excellence in your own right by practicing, tackling and mastering the basics of your business communication.

So, what did you think of the game? Are you inspired to start working on your marketing, SEO, and content marketing basics so you can enjoy a championship year?

Motivational Monday: You’re Doing Great. Keep Going!

Lapping-Everyone

No matter how slow you go, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch.”

Now that we’re a month into the year, how many of our resolutions have started to fade? Statistically speaking, after the first month, almost half of us will break our resolutions—but those who succeed know slow and steady wins the race. Smart goal-setters realize the path to achievement is revealed by checking off milestones and watching for success markers along the way. Run a marathon by August? Sure, but first try to get to a 5K by February.

February is a great month for refocusing on your goals and keeping your momentum going. It’s a short, but often a productive month as employees are back in gear and energized after the New Year and holiday break. Clients are implementing their own New Year strategies—which means new business opportunities for you!

Examine where you are with your 2016 goals. What goals are you making headway on, and where do you need to double-down your efforts? Now’s the time to reevaluate your strategic plan for the first half of the year and wrap up any year-end loose ends that might be holding you back. Look at your marketing goals and strategy, and keep the ball rolling.

Make 2016 your best year ever. Remember to keep going. You’re already doing better than everyone who already gave up!

  • One way to keep your resolutions from fizzling out? Turn them into powerful goals. Use smart strategies to keep both yourself and your company on track.
  • If you need a refresher, try these 10 Business Goal Setting Tips. Be sure your powerful goals cover your marketing strategy as it relates to your company’s overall strategic plan.

  • Examine your content and your website. If your website is over 5 years old, it’s as old as a rotary phone! How did your website help you convert leads to reach your sales goals last year? Don’t know? Then it’s time for a new website.
  • What does your 2016 Marketing Strategy look like? Blindly fumbling toward creating content is no more of a strategy than “running” is to completing a marathon. You must have milestones and markers to help keep you on track.
  • Understanding trends can help shape strong strategy and act as a guide. Are you mobile-optimized? Check out these 5 BIG Reasons You Need to Be Mobile Ready in 2016 or review these Mobile Marketing Trends for 2016 to get up to speed.
  • What drives us to get things done? A call to action! Unfortunately, it’s one of the often-forgotten parts of our website. Craft compelling CTAs to ensure your customers are helping you turn leads into sales in 2016.

It’s time to get off the couch and lace up your sneakers. Work toward those 2016 resolutions and turn them into goals! If you’re ready to kick ass in 2016, be sure to follow Cultivate on LinkedIn or subscribe below to receive full Motivational Mondays posts in your inbox each week.

Motivational Monday: Stop Wishing. Start DOING.

stop wishing start doing

“Stop wishing. Start DOING.”

We’re always trying to be the best there is—and that’s not a bad thing! But oftentimes, we get so bogged down with perfecting, we end up spinning our wheels rather than getting the ball rolling. We spend weeks trying to perfect our website before unveiling it (even though it’s already 99% there), or sketching out content before taking things live (even when we’re confident in our strategy).

While planning is important, it’s easy to get stuck. At some point, you have to take Nike’s advice and “Just Do It.” In today’s world, information moves quickly and trends are ever-changing with the latest technologies. It’s easy to become overwhelmed and start crafting the perfect answer and approach, or wishing you had everything in place and aligned before you have to begin. Well, technology’s not going to wait.

Plan, test, and execute so you don’t get left behind, wishing for the perfect plan to reveal itself.

If you’re ready to stop wishing and start doing, be sure to follow Cultivate on LinkedIn or subscribe below to receive full Motivational Mondays posts in your inbox each week.
