Go Big, Go Local.

Too often businesses think that marketing on the World Wide Web is just that, “a worldwide marketing opportunity.”  It can be, but for a local business that generates revenue in a limited area, focusing on your backyard makes more sense. This is especially true with Search Engine Optimization. A geo-specific approach will get a small local business more bang for their marketing dollar.

Google and a slew of other directories are now offering local businesses the opportunity to focus their search and directory listings in the trading area their customers come from.  Combine a LOCAL search strategy with a an effort to get LOCAL reviews from customers on Yelp, Google Maps, Bing Local, Merchant Circle, and City Search and you’ll soon see business pop.

How are you increasing business with a local focus?  What strategies are you using?
